First a report from Our Treasurer, Chris Carney: I'm pleased to report that the neighborhood's accounts are all in good standing. The process of collecting dues for fiscal year 2006 has gone well and is right on schedule. If, however, you've not sent in your dues for the year, you will be receiving a second invoice. Dues are $115.00 and can be sent to: Ridgecreek Homeowners Association P.O. Box 1952 Irmo SC, 29063 Failure to remit payment for dues in any fiscal year will result in a lien being attached to the deed of your property. This can complicate matters when it comes to reselling your home. While it is not an appealing option for the board, it is the recourse taken to ensure that all member-homes share the burden equally. As always, if you need to make special arrangements, we will be glad to work with you anyway we can. Please contact myself (407-1515), or another board member to discuss your situation. RIDGECREEK GOLF TOURNAMENT The “First Annual Ridgecreek International Invitational Golf Tournament” was held on Saturday April 22, 2006 at the Oak Hills Golf Course. The field was limited to just 16 players but all in attendance had a great time (in spite of a 45-minute rain delay) and asked that the event be held twice annually. First place went to the team of Jim Vicar, Jim Mendes, Clay Shoemaker and Cayce Dunlap with a score of minus 4. Tom Robbins won the closest to the pin with a shot of 2’ 10”. Prizes were awarded for all four positions and I would like to acknowledge those who donated the prizes: Representative Nathan Ballentine (4 State Flags), Spartan Chemical Company (4 dozen golf balls), Jim Holcombe (sponsored one team), Alpha Janitorial (4 dozen golf balls), Marty Johnson (4 golf coolers). Of course there were some gag prizes and the winners need not be mentioned here. I wish to express my personal thanks to all the players, supporters and to Oak Hills Golf Course for finding room for our little event. At the risk of offending others, I need to single out two special supporters of this event. House of Representative Nathan Ballentine for his donation of the 4 State Flags and the certificates that came with them and Jim Holcombe candidate for County Council who sponsored a team. Nathan has helped us out before and I’m sure we can count on him in the future and when he needs our help I’m sure he will get it. Jim Holcombe lives in Ascot and is seeking a seat on County Council, he sponsored a team of 4 players ($140.00) to play in our tournament, made a brief visit and showed interest in our event, I will remember his generosity as well. Again thanks to everyone who had a role in this event; the first one is always the toughest. YARD OF THE MONTH Congratulations to our Yard of the Month winner, The Coles Family, 20 Persimmon Wood Court Each winner receives a $25.00 gift certificate courtesy of Jeff Riley at Russell & Jeffcoat Realty. If you think someone in the neighborhood deserves to be nominated for the “Yard of the Month”, please contact Candiss Perrill or drop a note in the front mailbox. ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL COMMITTEE We have had several complaints regarding people walking their dogs and permitting them to defecate in other homeowner's yards. We ask that you please refrain from this practice, or else completely clean up the entire area if this accidentally occurs. Another area of concern that has been brought to our attention is the topic of unkempt yards. This includes grass that isn't mowed, bushes that aren't trimmed, trash or debris laying around, or just general clutter. Please make every effort to keep your yard appropriately maintained. The Ridgecreek Covenants state that the Board has the right to have an unkempt yard professionally maintained at the owner's expense. Although this is not something we wish to pursue, we do have to take into consideration that the entire neighborhood's appearance can be ruined by one unseemly yard. For someone trying to sell their home, this could make the difference between closing the deal or not, so please keep this in mind. For anyone wishing to submit a request to the Architectural Committee, the Approval Request Form can be obtained at www.ridgecreeknews.com or below the message board at the front entrance. |
